First of all you have to educate yourself well about the disease in order to be able to fight it. For good diabetes care still focuses on healthy eating and physical activity, plus monitoring your blood glucose level and taking medication, as needed.

Your best defense is good diabetes control. Keep your blood sugar levels at normal levels, and you're not likely to have any more dental problems that someone who does not have diabetes

Make sure your doctor keeps up with the latest developments in diabetes treatment. Diabetes care is rapidly evolving, and unless your doctor keeps up with the latest advances, try to find someone you trust.

Good nutrition is key for anyone with diabetes. You must watch portion sizes of your food, you must decide to eat more fruits and vegetables and whole grain products; and cut back on sweets as well as saturated fats like those found in meats and dairy products.

Finally you should know that your diabetes and your health are completely under your control. To do best with diabetes you have to accept it, take positive steps to deal with it. Then get on with your live. Feel that you have a mission, a purpose, and a reason for living. Love, work, laugh, play, plan for the future and live your live, just like everybody else.
