The Audi A8 -- A Full Size Elegant Vehicle

In order to replace the V8, the German automotive manufacturer Audi, developed the Audi A8. This vehicle is classified as a full-sized executive car, it was first introduced to the market back in 1994 and it has featured Tiptronic or Multitronic transmission configurations as well as quattro all-wheel-drive.

This vehicle has been produced in two generations, the first generation was introduced to the market in 1994 at the production was extended until 2003 which is when the second-generation started to be developed up to this day, let's take a look at the features and characteristics of each generation.

First-generation A8:

Unlike its predecessor the V8 which was mostly made of steel, A8 was made of aluminum which reduced the weight of the car without sacrificing its solid structure. This vehicle was not available in the North American market bought out to three years later after its release in 1994, the transmission configurations available were a five speed automatic and a five speed manual. The engine selection varied from the 2.8L V6 all the way to the 6.0L W12.

Second-generation A8:

The production of the second-generation started in 2003 it has been continued ever since, the chassis of this vehicle has been greatly improved as well as its design, this is also a longer version compared to its predecessor, it adds 5 inches of extra legroom for rear passengers and it is also big enough to accommodate five large passengers.

The transmission configuration is available as a six speed automatic or as a six speed manual. When it comes to engine models this second-generation feature one of the most powerful engines that Audi has offered in passenger vehicles, this is the 4.2 L Diesel V8 engine, it uses two intercoolers as well as two turbochargers.
